The ageless and timeless mountains of our country holds many secrets, of how our landscapes were formed, which people lived on the land before the settlers came and they support and contain unique ecological systems – mountains are sacred land. The Barberton Greenstone Belt in South Africa is estimated at 3.4-3.6 billion years old, and generally regarded as the world’s oldest mountains. Table Mountain is approximately 260-million years old. These are time scales I can not comprehend, and therefor only respect and admire.
