These are a series of eroded plastic flotsam that were caught as samples in the middle of the Atlantic gyre. They have a remarkable aesthetic as the elements have reshaped them over many years. Once products of society, their purpose has been discarded and lost, they have drifted far with the ocean currents, each on its own fragmented journey. These pieces continually come apart, but not before being reclaimed by pelagic organisms that utilize them as floating islands. This is the next nature, a combination of the synthetic and the organic. In isolation they have been showcased as new specimens of the deep ocean, new forms of life.
