Developing human, fish and other embryos at times share features, such as tails and gill-like structures. Yes, human embryos at a certain stage have a tail and folded neck structures that, in fish, later turn into gills! These gills become our jaws and the tail just shortens and disappears as the embryo develops further. Our current challenge are young and fresh – instead of evolving as one of about 14 million species on earth, we need to integrate our urban lifestyles into the web of life.
