a line of rocks
alternating in gradient of light and dark
to symbolize the seasons, rhythms and cycles
of the fires on the Table Mountain range in Cape Town

In this circle of rocks I packed the rocks in a way that there were gradual shifts in colour, from the sand-coloured stones, through sepia-red, brown and finally pieces of black tar that I found on site. This work and its colour variations was inspired by the fires that raged on the Table Mountain range about a week and a half prior to the land art day – these fires are part of a cyclical process of the mountain and the fynbos.
